Think Worldwide proudly celebrates Lloyd and Louise for taking on — and conquering — the formidable Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge in support of Abby’s Heroes. Covering 106 km of demanding coastline, steep climbs, and long, lonely stretches between checkpoints. An event designed to test resilience, preparation, and every choice you’ve ever made about footwear! Lloyd and Louise approached the challenge with purpose, discipline, and a shared commitment to making a meaningful impact.
Having completed 70kms of the South Downs Ultra Challenge last August, Lloyd returned to this year’s event in May, with a refined strategy and, crucially, better shoes. The lessons learned from his previous Ultra Challenge shaped his approach to pacing, fuelling, and recovery, allowing him to manage the distance with greater control. His performance across a very long day and night reflected consistency, preparation, and determination.
Lloyd trained with, and set out as part of a wider group of nine, whose collective preparation brought energy and momentum into the build up. The Isle of Wight course, however, is known for separating early optimism from reality. As the miles accumulated, only five members of the group continued towards the finish — Lloyd among them. His ability to stay steady through the toughest sections proved essential.
Louise delivered an exceptional performance, completing 83 km of the route — an achievement that stands tall in its own right and showcases her experience with long distance challenges. Her highlight came at the finish area, where she was met by her family, a well earned lift after many hours on the course.
For Lloyd, the standout moment arrived in the final two miles, when he was joined by his friend Jon. Jon ran the closing stretch with him, offering support at a point where fatigue was at its peak. Crossing the line together provided a powerful conclusion to an already demanding event.
Abby’s Heroes remains at the heart of why Lloyd and Louise took on this challenge. The charity provides vital support to children and young people receiving treatment on the Piam Brown and Teenage and Young Adult wards at Southampton General Hospital. Their work includes emergency grants, help with living costs, and practical resources that ease the disruption caused by long term treatment — ensuring families have reliable support at a time when stability matters most.
Beyond financial assistance, Abby’s Heroes funds activities, specialist equipment, and opportunities for families to create meaningful memories during unimaginably difficult circumstances. The funds raised by Lloyd and Louise will directly contribute to these programmes, helping families navigate treatment with greater security, connection, and relief.
Across this event and last year’s South Downs Ultra, Lloyd and Louise have now raised more than £2,000 for Abby’s Heroes. Think Worldwide is immensely proud of their commitment, their endurance, and the impact their efforts continue to make for families facing childhood cancer.
